Sunday, March 12, 2006 4:10 AM My wife and I have been Wynn Stewart fans for years. It is so good to find his website. My wife and I have had " ITS SUCH A PRETTY WORLD TODAY' as OUR SONG for years, and it still is our song. I have often thought what a beautiful day it must have been, and how good Wynn must have felt the day he wrote that song. He was one of Country Musics greatest song writers and singers EVER. It was a very sad day when my wife and I heard of his passing. Wishing you and your family the best always. Dave and Wanda Payne Cedar Hill, Texas, dpay@sbcglobal.net
Thursday, March 09, 2006 12:36 AM My name is Bill Baach and I live in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey. A record album by Wynn Stewart was my introduction to country music while stationed aboard the USS Enterprise, CVA-N 65 deployed to the South China Sea and Yankee Station in 1968. I'm still an avid fan of country music in fact it's the only music I listen to. Your Dad obviously had a major impact on my taste in music that is such a source of pleasure. Wednesday, February 01, 2006 1:18 PM My name is Jim Rodrigues. I live in Woodstock, GA. I have enjoyed your dad's music all my life. He has been a great influence to some of the world's biggest country music stars. One that comes to mind is Merle Haggard. I have had the opportunity to meet the HAG in person several times over the years and some of my conversations with him were about working for your dad and the influence. Merle is tremendously respectful of your dad and enjoyed working for him . He told me so ... And ofcourse "Sing a Sad Song" is in the history books now related to your wonderful dad and Merle Haggard. Thanks for keeping your dad's memory alive for people like us that enjoy traditional country music. The Web site is simply awesome.. Keep up the good work. Wishing you the very best. Sincerely, Jim, eve53@bellsouth.net

Wednesday, January 11, 2006 7:12 PM My name is dale Lynn Carbajal , When i was 8 years old around 1958 or so My father and mother would take my sister and i to Sherrys Barn to see Wynn Stewart, I can remember going every weekend to see him, My mother would always bring a picknic lunch with fried chicken and cake and lemonaide. Wyndy would always come and eat with us and some of his band members to. We loved his music. The best song we loved the most was The Waltz of the Angels.WE took lots of pictures with Wyndy that I still have in a album today. We lost touch and then we heard he was going to play at Georges Roundup on pch in Long Beach. That was in 1981 We got to see him , I was now 33 years old. My mother sister went and so did I , but my father did not get to go he passed away in 1975. My mother tried to send some pictures that we had taken when we went to see him in the 50s , this was when the band was having a break, but his body guards would not let anyone get near him or even show him the pictures, so we did not get to talk to him. My mother was very dissapointed to not get to talk to him one last time. He was such a wonderful man and such talent. My mother also died in 1985 in January. I have some 45 records that he signed for us and I still play them often. My mothers name was Elaine Yargus she treasured his music. My best to you his daughter If it would be possible some day I would love to meet you .God Bless you Sincerily Dale Lynn Carbajal e-mail dalelyncar@aol.com

Monday, January 02, 2006 10:51 AM My name is Frank James. I just wanted to say I love your website. I am a huge "BIG BIG" fan of your dad and his music! Back in 1983-84 I lived and worked in Nashville, Tennessee as a writer at TNN and WSM radio. Two of my best friends in Nashville since 1980 are Gordon Terry and Pete Wade whom I have recorded many of my own songs with. When your dad passed away I was brokenhearted. Country music lost a real LEGEND. Gordon Terry and I went to your dad's funeral together. It was a great honor to me. I wish I could have met him. He was a great influence in my musical career. I am signing your guestbook and yes your dad should have been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame when he was still with us. Thank you so much for this website. Your friend in music, Frank James, www.lefty-frankjames.com

Wednesday, December 28, 2005 3:08 AM First heard Wynn Stewart while in the Army in the 60's. Bought and maintain those early Albums and memories. Wynn and his musical peer group of that era were and remain Country Music. There is no correlation to today's perceived C & W artists or sound as compared to the true sound of Country and the likes of Wynn Stewarts Music and Voice. Sunday, December 11, 2005 8:48 PM Hi, My name is Bruce McNeill. I was in Long Beach Cal. in 1954 or 55 an Wynn was playing in a little lounge on PCH. I was not old enough to get in so I would hang out in the back an listen to him sing an he was awesome. He had a great voice with that little "tear" in it. When I hear Merle Haggard sing " Sad song" he phrases it like Wynn did. He had a big influence on the Merle generation of country performers. Thank you, Bruce, bmcneill@cfl.rr.com
Tuesday, December 06, 2005 3:42 PM Wynn, is and was one of the all time great country stars. I will always remember his music, and have many of his songs. DL Dickerson, dinsurance@hot.rr.com
Sunday, December 04, 2005 2:06 PM TO MOST PEOPLE, WYNN STEWART DIED ON JULY 17TH 1985 BUT LISTEN TO COUPLES ONLY, I KEEP FORGETTIN THAT I FORGOT ABOUT YOU, THE TOURIST, IT'S SUCH A PRETTY WORLD TODAY, ETC. AND THE RANGE OF THE VOICE AND THE FEELING IN EVERY SONG AND HE IS WHEREVER YOU ARE. WYNN STEWART WAS VERY POORLY MANAGED EARLY ON IN HIS CAREER BUT HIS DELIVERY, THE SONGS HE CHOSE, THE PAIN AND HURT IN MANY OF THE SONGS WILL TELL EVEN THE COUNTRY MUSIC FENCE SITTER THAT HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME GROUP AS HAGGARD, OWENS, TWITTY, CASH AND NELSON AND HAD HE NOT DISLIKED THE IDEA OF COUNTRY ARTIST CROSSING OVER TO POP, HE WOULD HAVE BEEN OR SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME STATUS AS ELVIS. THE RANGE IN HIS VOICE IS ONLY MATCHED BY PRESLEY AND IF I NEVER BUY ANOTHER CD, I WILL BE FOREVER GREATFUL THAT I HAVE THE BOX SET. CURT POOLER, ST. PETE., FL, cpooler1@tampabay.rr.com
Friday, December 02, 2005 1:38 PM Wynn Stewart--What an incredibly talented singer. I continue to hum the melody to "It's such a pretty world". This has to be one of the most beautiful and memorable country songs ever written and recorded. Rod Brooker, rod.brooker@gcmail.maricopa.edu

Tuesday, October 25, 2005 3:10 AM Wynn was an all time GREAT country singer. He sang with feeling, a real stylist. FIRST CLASS!! I was working, fronting/playing bass for Paycheck in 1972. We were working a big club around Oklahoma city one night. Wynn was just down the road working. I wanted so to meet him,(one of my top favorites). He came to paychecks buss while I had started the set. When I introduced paycheck, he told me first thing Wynn had just been on the buss visiting him. I was very disappointed not getting to meet him. Monday, October 10, 2005 9:49 AM Both of my parents were in the music industry while I was growing up. My Dad would sing your Dads songs. They were my favorite. My Mom and Dad went to hear Wynn Stewart and my Dad had him sign his album cover for me! I thought that It was very special and will always be one of my happiest memories. My Mom was a drummer for 12 years and she said she was priveleged enough to get to play drums for your Dad. Deborah kaylen ricker dkaylen@mtaonline.net

Friday, October 07, 2005 3:47 Pm In 1974 I had my first "set down" playing job at The Muse Restaurant & Lounge in Cortez, Colorado. I was 23 at the time and had only been playing bass a few months. Like most country musicians at the time, I idolized Wynn Stewart, and sang several of his songs. One Saturday night we were just getting ready to kick off the first song when I glanced over toward the front door, and there he stood! The club was practically empty. I like to think that it was because it was summer and the sun was still up at 8:30, not because we were a lousy trio. Either way, over the mic, I yelled," Hey! I know you!" Rather than reacting to my rudeness by throwing a chair at me, Wynn strolled over to the bandstand and started talking to us as if we DID know him. What a nice guy! Of course I immediately began to beg him to set in with us, and after some initial reluctance, he climbed on the bandstand! Just before I had seen him at the door, I had announced the first song would be Don Gibsons' classic, "I Can't Stop Loving You". Wynn said, "What was the song you were gonna do?" I told him and Carl Johnson, on steel guitar, kicked it off! Carls' big brother John was on drums and we were in Music Heaven! To make a long story short, Mr. Stewart played the whole night with us. The club owner was a big Wynn fan and called the local radio station, and before the first set was over, the place was full! Though I had the honor a few years later to back him again, in Albuquerque, that night in tiny Cortez will always be my favorite memory of my playing years. Wynn could just as easily have waved and walked out that night, but he chose to stay and give of himself and his prodigious talents, to three young pickers and a roomful of adoring fans. I will always miss him. Wayne Harkins wharkins@reinsure.com
Friday, October 07, 2005 5:04 AM I have always liked your Dad's music. Just decided to look him up. I was sorry to find out he died. Carolyn Beane, Tajomi@aol.com
Saturday, October 01, 2005 3:13 PM I remember Wynns home in the Puente hills near El Monte,Ca. and all of the record awards on the walls in the den. I used to go down to 5 points on Saturday nights and watch Wynn and Bobby Austin. The last time i saw Windy was just before Pretty World was released. I still enjoy the his music and duets he did with Jan Howard. They should have been included in the top 100 duets on CMT. It really is too bad that music of artists like Wynn is not recognized and played by todays country stations and artists. I would love to see someone like Mr. Yokum or Mr. Haggard or Mr.Owens do a full album of Wynns music. Maybe it would open peoples ears to the sound of the Playboy! I miss him and his music! Wednesday, September 28, 2005 12:21 PM My name is Ray Harrison, and I had the pleasure of meeting your Dad in 64-65 at a club in the San Diego Area. At the time I probably sang maybe (3) of his songs, Half of This, Wishful Thinking & Playboy. He happened to arrive just as I started into "Half of This". Being the type of man that he was, he even had the grace to compliment me on my version of HIS song. That day was the first day I heard what came to be my favorite Wynn Stewart song, "Does He Love You Like I Do". Wynn took the time to write the words done on a little piece of pink paper, I still do it and still get request for it, thank goodness. "Daddy's Girl" was sung to my daughter and she even ask me to sing it at her wedding. No Way could I do that, so I took a tape of your dad singing it and we danced to it instead. Such a pretty World Today was a dear friends favorite song and I had a difficult time when I was ask to do it at his funeral. I have some of his albums and intend to get a box set soon. I'm in the process of moving and will get them after I settle into my new home. I still enjoy his voice just as much today as the first time I heard it. He truly utilized his voice as and instument. His delivery of a song was so unlike any other. I've heard some wannabe's try to copy his style and it's an act of futility. There is and always will be One Wynn Stewart. prsranch@cox.net
Monday, September 26, 2005 11:57 AM My brother was Carlis Nunn and the band he was with would back Wynn when he was in California sometimes. He was with Lee Lacy and the Ozark Playboys or something like that. Carlis died in 1995. I never met Wynn but liked his music. My brother played on Cal's Corral in LA in the early 60's. Friday, September 23, 2005 2:49 PM I was a good friend of your Dad Wynn Stewart back in 1958 around Los Angeles when he played music at Sherry's Barn with Pete Ash and Ralph Mooney and Peaches on drum's Helen Price. I was Guest Starring at George's Roundup in Long Beach singing and playing Country Music around that area.Wynndy would always invite me to get up and sing with his band because he knew I loved music.I always made an "A" in school in music.I played the guitar when I was going on 12 years of age.I was born on June 16th,1932 in Bedford,Indiana. I recorded a song with Merle Haggard and The Strangers back in 1969 up on the Kern River at Merle Haggard's Studio and got on a record label called"Country Heart Records" with Donna Fargo. Her record got released but mine never got out of Hollywood,California due to some personal problems with my sponsor Mark Green of Beverly Hills who started the Record Company. Merle would of helped me get started if it had been released. We had our pictures taken together to be put in a flier at Capitol Records back when Merle recorded"Okie >From Muskoee". Wynn Stewart was one fine Country Singer in my books. Virgil Essex bedrokin@hpcisp.com

Wednesday, September 07, 2005 11:07 AM Hello Wren, I am happy to sign the guestbook as I have been a fan of your dad's since I first heard him in '63 or '64 when I lived in Calif. I've always been sorry I didn't get to meet him in person. I fell in love with him and "It's Such A Pretty World Today" the first time I heard it.They say we're not supposed to question God, but you can't help but wonder why someone has to leave in their. prime. I've always thought the Lord needed him up there to sing with the angels. I hope you are successful in your bid to have your dad inducted into the Hall of Fame. You shouldn't have to do this. He should have been inducted years ago, But like Washington,D.C., Nashville is politically motivated and here is the problem,I guess. I wish you all the best in your endeavors. A long time Wynn Stewart fan , Wanda Grace. wandag@nctc.com

Murphy and Vern Stovall did some traveling with Wynn.We played The Nashville Nevada Club in Vegas with Wynn and a lot of other venues. I don't know if Wynn ever mentioned my name to you, but he thought I sounded so much like Eddy Arnold he wanted to record me on his previous label, but it didn't work out that way. By the way this was in the 1970's. I really loved and miss your dad. My screen name is Eewprk6 @aol.com as I am now on anothe persons computer. I highly thank you for this web site about Wynn. Saturday, August 27, 2005 6:34 AM As I was on my way to work this morning, an old familiar sound came on the radio. Wynn Stewart, wow. I truly loved his music. It takes me back to my pre-teen years when the great country artist from the sixties were in their prime and so was country music. When I arrived at work I keyed in Wynn’s name to see what information was out there. Thanks so much for the web site and allowing me to visit. It truly was a memorable moment. Our local radio station has a Saturday morning show call the Bill Bury Show. He plays 99% Old Country. That is my kind of music and your father ranked up there in the top of my favorites. Tuesday, May 03, 2005 1:48 PM I was just listening to my favorite music(country) & surfing the net, when I thought about the name Wynn Stewart. I entered his name in Goggle and the site came up. I saw him 1967 or 68 @ the 101 club in Oceanside, CA and he sang his new release "its such a pretty world today". I am a native of California from Hanford & Morro Bay. My family farmed and worked in the oil fields @ Taft (Kern County). I have an album of Wynn's somewhere in stacks of albums that I have. Anyway, I just wanted you to know that he was a great entertainer and singer. He ranks up there with all of the greats. I always wondered what happened to him. I am sorry to here of his death so early. I was a Marine MP and the club was on my beat and I used to stop in there when I working evening watch. Rose Maddox owned the club, I think. Tuesday, April 19, 2005 9:08 AM I am a 65 Yr old country fan from Scotland and I have been a fan of Wynn Stewart since I first heard him in the early 60's. Like so many older performers Wynn's music is very hard to come by , especially here in the U.K. I would certainly like to see Wynn take his rightful place in the Country Hall Of Fame, a man who was influentual in Country Music as he was deserves to be Honoured in this way . Dave Clelland, Clellanddv@aol.com
Thursday, April 14, 2005 4:49 PM I am a fan of Wynn Stewart. I believe his music stands the test of time. His voice is genuine and unique. In 1992, I became a regular performer with the “Tennesseans” Band and performed country music for three years at Price’s Foothill Club in Signal Hill, California. I understand that Wynn Stewart made many appearances at the Foothill Club as a guest star with Billy Mize. Your Father’s name circulated throughout the club and was most admired by the many that spoke of him. It truly is an honor to have stood on the same stage as such an admired individual. Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts with you. Robbie Currie, currie.robbie@gene.com
Sunday, April 10, 2005 6:47 PM Hi, It was always a pleasure for my husband and I to sing "It's Such A Pretty World Today" as a duet! Wynn was one of the first artists we met when we came to the LA area as entertainers. He was a great artist and made a lot of great contributions to our field. I have been out of the mainstream since 1978 when I decided to retire and do Gospel music. I will be releasing my first Gospel album of original songs sometime this year. I have given your e-mail addresses to my webmaster who I hope can link out sites together. Blessings, Sharon Leighton Joyner, joynus2@cox.net
Friday, April 08, 2005 7:03 PM Hello, my name is John Cox. I am 32 years old and live here in North Carolina. I purchased The Best of Wynn Stewart 1958-1962 cd. I wanted to let you know, I love the entire disc. I am a very big fan of Wynn Stewart, Tommy Collins, Jack Greene, Faron Young, Webb Pierce, Tillman Franks, Jim Reeves, Stonewall Jackson, Nat Stuckey 's ." Don't Look Back At Me And See Me Crying " , " Such A Pretty World Today" , " Playboy" , and " Above and Beyond " are my favorite songs. I wished I could have got to meet Wynn, when he was living and had to autograph my cd. I don't like this modern country music. I love the old songs, they get to my heart. I wish you all the best and God bless. Sincerley John Cox jlmarts12@alltel.net
Saturday, April 02, 2005 8:04 AM I played steel in bar bands around Nashville in the 60's and 70's when Country was Country. We always did Wynn's songs and always had requests for them. I'll never forget KEEPER OF THE KEY and PRETTY WORLD TODAY. Sincerely, Frank Haynie, Frankhaynie@comcast.net
March 31, 2005 4:44 PM Great to see that you have created such a great site dedicated to you father. Even though I live in Norway, Scandinavia and Wynns music has been hard to find sometimes I've been listening to it ever since I was a teenager back in the 70s. Nothing can really beat the great Bakersfield-sound that your father was and still is an important part of. By now I have all his vinyl albums and, of course, the fabulous Bear Family box set. Why he isn't in the CM Hall of Fame is hard to understand. Well, for as long as I live, Wynn Stewart will always be in my Hall Of Fame and an important part of my life and record collection. Wish you all the best and keep up the great work! Best regards, Tore Brennodden, tore.brennodden@bluezone.no

March 23, 2005 10:00 PM Dear Wren; Thanks for the great website for a Great man. Met Wynn in 'Vegas. (1992-or 1993) Long time for an old man to remember! Anyway I will never forget what a great entertainer he was, and more 'special what a gentleman. I had the privilege to talk about my family and he told me about his. (and this is just while he was taking that much needed break.) What a guy! I haven't mentioned anything about his musical/vocal talents because that speaks for itself. Wynn was the most talented country singer of his day. (The records speak for themselves. He will always be remembered in the minds and hearts of his fans. I have all his recordings, but I want to say "thanks" for giving his fans a chance to say "THANKS WYNN FOR WHAT YOU HAVE GIVEN US" Ken Nash, Green Forest, Arkansas, nashfam1@alltel.net

Thursday, March 10, 2005 3:46 AM Dear Wren, Sure glad you were able to rescue archived Guest Book. Found my old messages back 1999. I did purchase your dad's full compilation " Wishful Thinking". I had not been to your site for awhile. It was great reading all the messages. Your dad lives on through all his fans, which are many, even today. I wish I could find his songs in Karaoke as I do a lot of singing. Occasionally I sing with a band. I need to memorize more songs. Karaoke can be ruthless as it does not work with you as a band can. Anyway's, keep this site going. Love to family. Patrick Henry irishman@telisphere.com
Monday, March 07, 2005 7:24 PM I am 43 years old and was listening to Wynn Stewart when I was a kid. I have one on his CD's and listen to it all of the time. It is my wish to see him inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Tim Weir, Winchester, VA weirs@visuallink.
February 26, 2005 5:37 AM, Dear Wren and family - Hello from a long-time lover of traditional Country music in Baltimore, MD! I was fortunate enough to see and meet Wynn at a country music show at our Civic Center back in '68, and what a show he put on! Coming off the all-time classic "It's Such a Pretty World Today," he really sang wonderfully. At the time, I was a teenager, and all of my friends were into Motown and other stuff. I dug the country, and now those friends are into Modern Country and I'm still listening to Wynn, Ernest, Faron, Buck, etc. It's a real shame that Modern County pays no tribute to noteworthy forebears such as your Dad, but I do what I can to play the good old records. Please do all you can to get a representative Greatest Hits CD out on the Capitol recordings! And have a happy day! Most sincerely, Mark Clark, markkclark@comcast.net

It's 12:30am. I'm on the internet Hway. Then boom! THERE he is. The man that inspired a 15 year old kid, 25 years ago to search out any little Honky-Tonk that had a Jam Session. I sneak in, they call me up to the stage,I tell the band "Sing Me a Sad Song" in the key of Cmaj. Back then I could hit all high notes without going into falseto. Then I'ed follow that one up with "Thers Only One Way To Go".Wynn Stewart in my opinion was, has, and sadly always will be the most UNDERATED!vocal stylest ever to grace a stage. I have listen to every album countless times. Read those "Liner Notes" over & over. Once I was even lucky enough to see him live at the "Red Barrell" in El Monte CA.. I just can't wait to read & listen & buy anything and everthing about this Great Man. Thanks for all your hard work onthis wonderfull site. E-Mail if your not to busy and let me know you recieved my comments. Once again Thank You So Much. Now I'm going back to your website.

I recently received the Bear Family collection of your dad's recorded output. It's proof enough that he was one of the best singers of any musical genre. He didn't just have a fabulous voice; he also seemed to have an ear for good music-- I don't think it was just the influence of his producer. The recordings that he did with Clarence White, not to mention his long relationship with Ralph Mooney, are a testament to his fine musical taste. I sure wish I had had the chance to visit the Nashville Nevada Club-- of course, I doubt that they ever allowed two-year-olds to sit at the bar (I was born in 1960). In any case, I've been fortunate enough to live in a city (Washington, DC) that was once home to a few radio stations that played your dad's music. Most of them are long gone, but we still have a public radio station that programs the Eddie Stubbs Show. He's certainly a supporter of your dad's music and is a fine DJ, too.

A few years ago I was thinking that I must be the only really big fan of Wynn Stewarts that was left. However, I just spent about an hour reading all the emails & realize that there are a lot of us out there that love his music & would do whatever we can to get him into the Country Music Hall of Fame, as he deserves it!! I lived in Bakersfield throughout the 1960's & Wynn, Buck & Merle totally converted me from rock to country (the real stufff and not what you have to listen to today). Can't wait to get my box set.

Wynn Stewart was an under-appreciated traditionalist. I have almost all his albums and I have copied many of them to cds that I play around my stereo shop. Every now and then I have a customer ask me who that guy is singing while I am testing his cd player. Wynn Stewart had a unique sound and that is what sets him and others apart from the generic singers of today. I also prefer the honky tonk old country sound to the new pop-rock oriented sound of today. I rarely listen to country radio anymore because most of the music they play isn't country at all. One thing about Wynn Stewart was that he was country all the way down to his soul. He and others like him are greatly missed today.

One of the only two gifts I received for my thirteenth birthday was an album of Wynn Stewarts songs. I wore the record out playing it over and over. Wynn Stewart is one of the greatest country music stylists who ever graced a stage, and it's a rotten shame that he's been overlooked time and time again by the Hall of Fame!! The artists he influenced, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and others have been honored, but he remains overlooked..... I recently got to see the video footage of Wynn singing on the Buck Owens Ranch TV show in 1967. You can buy the video at Buck Owens' website and I highly recommend it to any Wynn Stewart fan. His performances are unbelievable. He's so expressive. Man that guy could sing! It makes you realize that all those great performances he did in the recording studio, they're not overdubbed and patched together from different takes and pitch-corrected. He really sounded that good! Wynn was simply that skilled and talented. Hats off to you Wrenn for keeping Wynn's name out there. He deserves to be heard by every self-respecting country music fan.

I was browsing through David Balls website & saw Wynns' name. Recently heard someone sing " Playboy" I ask whose song that was. Wynn Stewart didn't sound too familiar, but "Pretty World" did. I had been looking for him & was so excited to find this website. If only these new guys would try to copy Wynn, we could get back to some good ol country music. By the way Wren, have you tried singing ?? I loved hearing all those songs & will visit again. Thank you so much.

"It's Such a Pretty World" was probably the first country record I ever bought. After all these years it is still one of my top five all time favorites. It might sound weird but I've asked my wife to play "Pretty World" at my funeral [hopefully many years down the road.] Some times we get so wrapped up in things that we forget that it truly is a pretty world that we live in. The country music establisment has totally missed the boat over the years by ignoring artists similar to your father who are rugged individualists who write & sing their own brand of music & who do not cave into the Nashville formula. Is it only me, or do other fans get tired of artists who all sound the same? I don't know who is who any more and, frankly, have given up caring. These days, I mostly buy recordings of the old timers. Your dad was a pioneer and deserves his due recognition. Put Wynn in the country HOF! Radio DJs: play some of these great artists, please. Off my soap box, thanks for the nice site, you are appreciated.......Rob

Hi, I have a first cousin that knew Winn, when they were playing at most of the Bars in Calif.Thats how he met Winn Stewart.I think he (Jack Stokley)my cousin and Winn would stay up all night picking and singing. This was back in the 1960's. I'm sure that Jack went out to visit with Winn, not too long before Winn passed away. I know that Jack just might have every recording that Winn Stewart ever made.Yes the family will always play his songs, for we all enjoyed hearing Winn sing. Our favorite song is It"S Such A Pretty World Today.Winn Stewart is very much missed. A Fan Always,Jeanetta and Jack Stokley

We are so very excited to finally find a website for Wynn Stewart. I have played Wynn's music for years since the early 1960's. "Loversville" was a favorite during my courtship with my wife, Jody, in 1965, now over 38 years ago. We loved his music so that we named one of our sons after him. His name is Wynn Orlan VanHouten and is now married and living in Webster, TX. (South Houston area) A couple years ago, we purchased the full Wynn Stewart Music CD set. The enclosed book gave Willard, Missouri as his final resting place and we really wanted to go visit his gravesite as we never had the privilege of meeting him in lifetime. We drove up from Dallas and searched the two little cemeteries to the north of Willard but were unable to locate his grave. We would love to at least do this to pay our respects sometime if you have no objection. Could you help us with some directions and cemetery name, etc. to make this possible? It would be greatly appreciated as our son, Wynn, would also like to visit it. Wynn's hit, Wishful Thinking would have to be a favorite of ours also. Thanks for making this communication possible for us. Sincerely, Verby and Jody Van Houten

I was going through a photo album and found an old notepad where your father had written "After the storm, may your life be brighter" and he signed it. Then I found a picture of him with two other gentlemen. Also two promotional pictures, one RCA,Trans-Con management corp. in Phoenix, Arizona, and the other one from Pretty World Records. Did Wynn recorded a song titled, "I'll Never Forget Ol' What's Her Name?" If so, where and how do I get this song on disk or cassette? If not, who sings it? It was around 1966 up to 1970 when I heard it. "Sha-Marie" is also my favorite.

Wynn Stewart was not only a great entertainer, he was a great human being. When I was 17 years old he was at an auction house in Baldwin Park, Ca. with Vern Stovall, Bobby George and Phil Baugh. I had achance to sing but told them I couldn't sing without a guitar. Wynn promptly went out to his car and got a martin guitar for me to play. I've never forgotten that.

Wynne Stewart was very popular as a recording artist/ musician/songwriter in my growing up years, and there's not one song of his that I don't enjoy listening to. However, his number one hit, "It's Such A Pretty World Today" remains my favorite song among them all that Wynne recorded. I still listen to Wynne's music often. It not only brings back fond memories for me personally, but also the Golden Era of great, original country music, that Wynne not only helped establish, but was a giant part of in keeping it alive. I wish for the late Wynne Stewart's loved-ones and fans, the very best of luck, good health, happiness and prosperity. Sincerely, Gene Smith.

I just wanted to say that Wynn was married to my cousin Doloras. A friend of mine told me about this website and that my picture was in it. It was very amusing to see me again as a teenager and to know that I was priveledged enough to actually have my picture in it. Way to go Wynn. Good Luck in all you do, and it was nice to see all the familiar faces again. LINDA

I just ran across your web site today. I am so happy to see that Wynn is getting recognition for his "Great" Country Music over the years. It's about time! I loved your daddy's music since the first day I hear him on KXLA in Los AngelesCA. The station is no longer Country Music. We do have KZLA and KFRG and they do play some of his songs once in a while. But not enough of the older Country Music that are the roots of our music is plated and should not be forgottenThanks for your efforts to keep his music alive. Bless YouJJ Norman Golfballnut@aol.com

I've been a great fan of Wynn Stewart since a young child. I have the CD, "the very of Wynn Stewart 1958-1962", which was produced by Joe Johnson. My fiance', Marty Taylor, and I both love it. I'm also the manager of Marty Taylor, country music singer, songwriter, musician, recording artist, artist, who played in and out of Nashville for 18 years. We're most happy to link Wynn's web page to ours and appreciate the returned favor. My favorite Wynn song is, "Long Black Limosine" and Marty's is "I Don't Feel At Home". I've never felt Wynn got the recognition and respect he and his music deserved. Hopefully Nashville will induct him into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Thank you and God bless you for keeping his music alive.

I was so happy to happen upon this website. I am a fan of days gone by. I'm only 45, but my husband says I was born a generation too late by the music I love. Listening to "It's Such a Pretty World", I almost have tears in my eyes. I have it on CD as well as the old long play album. I am happy to have the opportunity to read about "Wynn Stewart". I've been looking for an album my Mom bought in 1968, "Wynn Stewart and Jan Howard". To date I haven't had any luck. If anyone knows of one for sale, the LP is fine, I would appreciate it if you would contact me. Thanks and may the Good Lord bless you for this website.

Wynn, was a great singer/songwriter. He was music was exposed to me by great DJ (Bob Luningham)in Farmington, NM from radio station KRZE back in the 1960's and it was great. It's ashame that Wynn is not yet in the Country Hall of Fame. Nowadays there hardly is a radio station in Arizona or in the Southwest that plays Classic Country Music and it's a "Darn Shame."

Wynn is my favorite singer of all times. He is wonderful and knew how to sing a country song like it should be sung. When Wynn lived in Hacienda Hights, I would be at the back fence listening to him and his band sing. I was in high heaven as a kid. Wynn's untimely death was a shock to me. He was the man.

I'm always being reminded of him with songs like this which I enjoy. He died in a plane crash in 1988, (his own plane). I sure do miss him. So I really enjoy hearing these types of songs. Thank you! If you have any more old country, e-mail me with links. I like all the oldies, Patsy Cline, (I sing her in Karaoke) Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Merele Haggard etc.

I loved this music as a child. The song "it's such a pretty world" brings back memories of when we went on vacation to oak creek arizona and we we're laying in the bed of my dad's pickup coming down into oak creek canyon and every time the sun would come out from behind a cloud we would sing 'it's such a pretty wourld today look at the sunshine.

I have listened to Wynn's songs for many years now. I would play them when we were stationed in Alaska(my husband is retired Air Force) back in the sixties. What a wonderful voice . Every time someone came into our house when I was playing your dad's songs they would always ask who it was who was singing. I would tell them and another Wynn Stewart fan would go to the B.X and buy his records. He helped me pass so many lonely hours while we were in Alaska. Will be back to visit your site many times.Regards, Hannah Rockey
